Since we can’t secure the company, we'd love to share the 101 picnic ideas for an unforgettable picnic experience. Take notes.

There is an overwhelming number of spacious green parks and romantic lakes in Berlin, making it almost impossibe to single out one perfect spot. Here are our personal favorites: Tiergarten enchants with its beautiful meadows, charming pathways, and playful lakes that invite you to sit down and enjoy the day under the shades of trees. Because of its central location, it’s also great for a sightseeing tour before or after. Fun fact, you can rent a boat and have a picnic almost as if you were overseas. Not too far from it is Volkspark Friedrichshain, the oldest park in Berlin, with a rich history that gives it an almost magical atmosphere. It offers a perfect location for sports activities and welcomes big groups or families. Mauernpark offers a completely different vibe, with a vibrant young atmosphere surrounded by graffiti and street art performers. There is a flea market and plenty of events.
Our personal favorite is Tempelhof. The former airport field has been transformed into a long stretched green garden with groups of people enjoying their moments in the evening sun, drinking wine, and sharing stories. There are BBQ areas and urban gardening spots worth a visit. For first dates, we recommend Viktoria Park, a romantic spot right next to Tempelhof. Here you can enjoy the presence of big trees and waterfalls with less people around you. It's also perfect for watching sunsets.
Finally, Insel der Jugend, an island in the east of Berlin that is only accessible by a bridge, is a real hidden jam. If you want to go for drinks afterwards, there’s a laid-back bar on the island perfect for long warm evenings.
To organize the perfect picnic, there are a few things you want to keep in mind. Start with a picnic basket that does not only look pretty but is also great for carrying all the necessities. Prepare blankets that can get stained and bring pillows and more blankets to create a cozy space. Another great picnic idea for creating a more romantic atmosphere is to bring fairy lights and flowers. Plates, glasses, and cutlery are a must, and ideally, take disposable ones to not get hung up on it afterwards. Keep in mind to bring a tray or something stable to put the glasses on, a cutting board with a knife, and, of don't forget a bottle opener. Consider bringing a board game, books, and a speaker to create happy vibes. Some parks also offer entertainment and even open-air cinemas, so look out for those.

If you don’t want to just order pizza, we have some great Pinterest-friendly suggestions for you. If you want to impress people while playing it safe, go for a charcuterie board. It doesn't involve much cooking, just assembling different cheeses with meats, grapes, and fancy spreads. Baguette and bread sticks marry perfectly with it.
How about bringing some white wine for a French twist to the evening? Or perhaps you want to recreate an Italian vibe? Homemade focaccia, mozzarella balls, olives, and prosciutto are ideal for that. Another Italian-style picnic food idea is to make aperol spritz cocktails as an aperitif and tiramisu for dessert - sure to win everyone over.

One option is Picnic, a platform that lets you assemble your own picnic basket with a variety of snacks and foods to choose from. To make it even more special, you can order decorations or have them set up the entire venue for a delightful surprise for your partner.
A similar concept is Barcomi's picnic service. They provide you with several picnic options to choose from, so you don’t have to worry about the food at all. All types of picnics are covered, from breakfast picnics to antipasti and lunch baskets.
Another great service is Salumeria Italiana, a stand in Markthalle 9 that transforms into your personal picnic basket. Each week's changing menu offers deliscious Italian foods for a family lunch or a romantic meal for two. Keep in mind, they only deliver in Kreuzberg.
