Swinging Through Berlin with David Hermlin

David Hermlin was born into swing. At the age of three, he taught himself to play the drums, and by four he was already on stage for the first time alongside his father, Andrej Hermlin.

Since early 2026, David Hermlin has been setting the tone himself: as bandleader of the Swing Dance Orchestra, he tours Berlin and the whole world. David uses his own arrangements to create a unique sound that moves your heart and feet. And what is never missing? His polished tap shoes, with which this multi-talented artist sets every stage ablaze.

— The best places in the city that not many know about?

— You can see amazing places in Berlin every day of the week. Check out Ballhaus Berlin for Monday Swing, Crack Bellmer for a swing dance party with live music on Tuesday and Speiches Rock & Blues Kneipe on Sunday.

— Last event that you really enjoyed?

— The screening of the biopic „Michael“ at Zoo Palast. They have the best popcorn in town.

— What cultural event are you going to attend in the coming month?

— I don’t have much time in July since my own show AHOI is still playing until the 19th of July at Wintergarten Varieté. I’m playing with a live big band and incredible acrobats are showing their talents alongside. Come and swing with us there!
