But back to the time 100 years ago, there are many clues on what  we can learn from it. Berlin's "Roaring Twenties" were a brief cultural and social period featuring ideas like free love. A political climate of upheaval after the First World War, great social utopias alongside economically uncertain times, led to an atmosphere of transition where much was possible. Especially for women, for people with diverse gender identities and orientations. Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institute for Sexual Science was scientifically unique, since it researched these very topics. Besides the extraordinary institute; there were parties, stage shows, bars, and clubs.

At the Eldorado on Winterfeldtplatz, celebrations must have taken place for days with inventiveness and exuberance, making many average clubs today seem almost staid in comparison. I would give a lot to be at one of those parties. This free life was brutally destroyed by the Nazis a little later. If you want, you can also immerse yourself in this era on Netflix, by watching the documentary “Eldorado”. It also comes back to life through the guided city tours — I am telling you, they are worth going.

The glamour, extravagance, and the elevated spirit through the narrative of nostalgia. Later she thought and ended up asking me why all these don't exist in the kinky scene. My last recommendation? Don’t be afraid. Just go by the wind. Dance on the volcano, and enjoy the art of love and affection by embodying it – either by wearing outfits, and sometimes, by taking them off.
