You spent two days at Berghain and now you want to catch up on all the food you missed in Berlin? Comfort food. You messaged on Bumble, but the moment you see your date in real life, you know it's not going to work out? Comfort food. The list goes on. This May calls for comfort, and what better way to fill the void than with great food—vegan food, to be specific.
Most of the places we’ve highlighted in our guide are vegan, but they don’t need to flaunt the label because they’re just as delicious as their non-vegan counterparts. Don’t tell your friends it’s vegan—they won’t even notice. Less talking, more eating. Keep in mind we can’t cover them all, and while we’ve chosen our personal favorites, the others are just as worth trying.

Disclaimer: it’s juicy!
A burger is what you want to eat on your first date to show him who you really are. And if he shares his fries, he’s a keeper. A good vegan burger is probably the best thing there is; it almost makes you feel like you’re eating healthy. Maybe not a superfood, but only the best ingredients and homemade sauces is what Vegd stands for.
In 2019, Andre started Vegd as a ghost kitchen, which later turned into a burger hotspot. With huge success and a drive to be the best, Vegd now has three locations in Berlin and one franchise. We visited the store in P-berg and enjoyed our burgers at the big window, watching trams and people pass by. They also have a little outdoor space, perfect for enjoying the evening sun while you savor your burger—almost nostalgically. Finger-licking, burger-dripping romance.
Our favorite: The Smashed Vegd, with its incomparable vegan meatiness.

We also want to mention Neue Republik Reger, a restaurant that deserves a spot on the list. What sets them apart isn’t just what they say, but what they don’t say. Neue Republik Reger is less known for its charged and juicy vegan burger and more for its genuinely great food and bar vibes. The bar features a small stage hosting all kinds of events, including cinema nights, drag shows, and bingo. This place is a true hidden gem.
Our favorites: Regulars go for the cheesy burger, but the Angry Crowd burger, with its vegan Leberkäse, is just as brilliant.

If you’re looking for something less messy but just as carb-loaded, we recommend pizza. It’s the perfect food to share with friends while planning your night out or trash-talking the people at the club you went to.
Neukölln has you covered with a tucked-away pizzeria on Leinenstraße. La Stella Nera is a true vegan comfort food gem in Berlin, known to any food lover. When we arrived, the pizzaioli were serving up beautifully fluffy Napoleon pizzas, each more colorful than the last. None of them look vegan, yet homemade vegan cheese and spicy seitan sausage are the stars of the show. Alongside pizzas with red and white bases, Stella Nera offers antipasti and desserts. The terrace is usually busy, but if you find a free spot, you can enjoy your pizza with some summer evening vibes. If it gets too cold, they provide blankets.
Our favorites: the Capperi e Olive and the Spinach Bianca with homemade ricotta (amazing!)

For us, Vietnamese food is the ultimate comfort. The freshness of each ingredient, the comforting warmth of the broths, and the attention to detail in every component are what truly warm our hearts. Right across from Hasenheide, you'll find Chay Long, where large trees conceal a garden-like terrace, perfect for spending hours eating to your heart’s content. We joined the atmosphere with Mi, who shared the beliefs and traditions that form the foundation of Chay Long. Coming from an almost entirely vegan family, starting the restaurant felt almost natural.
This family-owned business offers an authentic Vietnamese experience with unique dishes you won’t find elsewhere. Mi is passionate about the cuisine and isn’t afraid to feature traditional dishes on the menu. Their kitchen is staffed by cooks from all over Vietnam, bringing a diverse range of dishes to the table. We could truly feel the pride and compassion the family pours into their offerings.
Our favorite: the Pyramide dumpling, made from rice flour, wrapped in a banana leaf, and filled with a medley of vegetables.

If the weather ever turns as sunny as we hope for, sushi is the way to go. Picture a hangover Sunday with the sun blazing down on your already pounding head. All you need is something that won’t upset your stomach and a cold lemonade. Emira offers both. We met with Teyun, the owner, who shared her story about her husband’s switch to a vegan diet due to high cholesterol. Teyun had to rethink their eating habits and began creating vegan food without limits.
Instead of meat alternatives, she uses unique vegetables, tofu, and swears by vegan tuna and salmon. Teyun’s husband tested various rices to find the perfect consistency. All the lemonades are homemade, crafted with unique techniques and exceptional flavors—we’ve never had anything quite like them. Their backstory is as impressive as their interior; we dined on glass tables overlooking a small grass landscape, with our food presented on a wooden board and steam rising from a pot in the middle. It’s a real experience.
Our favorite: Everything is delicious, but definitely try a homemade lemonade. The salt-preserved lime with ginger and agave syrup is a must!
