“Added to this is a special feature of the city: Open and poly relationships seem to be more common here than in the rest of the republic. but is it right for me? Asks my friend Ana, she is still searching for love. No dramatic changes since the last conversation we had, ending up in sexy cabarets of the city.
The word polyamory comes from Greek and means “much love”. Despite this beautiful meaning, poly is not less complicated than other relationships. There is a lack of role models and orientation on how to date, love, and live together. On the other hand, monogamous relationships are not just easy or forever, too. So for the curious in the city: Perhaps, just give poly a try after all? Maybe one doesn't have to decide between: him, her, they? When you think of siblings, children, friends, you can easily love many. So why not loving many under the warm roof of romanticism?
For curious bees among you, there are books and films on the subject. In a city like this, it is perhaps possible to take the whole colorful bouquet of relationships with you, just as you would wish for in the city's most beautiful flower shop, at Marsano. How exactly does that work, and does it really work? There are workshops for this, for example at Other Nature, with the Charming Theys, or at IKSK. There is a poly regulars' table there, where you can exchange ideas with others and get inspiration and suggestions.

"Why is it so hard for us to really live, and endure that?" asks Ana. She is currently dating a couple and having sex with both, which felt good at the beginning. Being desired and cared for by two people at the same time was new to Ana and, above all, beautiful. Over time, however, complex arrangements and jealousy were added.
"It was the typical wanting more after every meeting, as if one had to necessarily climb the relationship escalator, which then becomes complicated," says Ana. So at some point, it was no longer enough to pick flowers together and lie in the grass; it always has to go further, up, so to speak, into the shared apartment with the sunny terrace, where you only plant together... Ana says: "It sometimes hurts when I leave and the two of them are still together." How much of these are her feelings and what about the patriarchal norms? To figure that out, you can get advice, e.g., from Jarla, a therapist who understands love.
Everything probably has its justification, a colorful bouquet of several flowers and the desire for the one houseplant. As confusing as things may be on the Berlin meadows right now, perhaps the only thing that applies to all encounters is: be appreciative of acquaintances and strangers. Do not just tear anything off, but pick it consciously. As the Little Prince already knew about his rose: If you love, you take responsibility. For the person with whom you share love, no matter how long it lasts or how many there are. It is about the uniqueness of the time spent together and the possibility for connection.Ana likes to spend the balmy evenings on the couple's terrace; a small rose also grows there, Ana enjoys its scent and everything else. After all, it is summer in Berlin.
Much love,
